my dive trip to pulau lang tengah

a brief description of my dive trip to pulau lang tengah... an island sitting between pulau redang and pulau perhentian and just 45min speed boat ride away from the coast of terengganu, a state in malaysia... i will keep it short, you can find these informative websites here, here, here and here.

day 1 and 2

we leave around sinagpore at around 8pm+ and reached merang jetty at around 6am+ stopping over for some food toilets breaks during this long coach journey... so far this has been my longest coach ride to malaysia. merang jetty is the place for you to transfer via boat ride to any of the 3 island... perhentian, redang and lang tengah.... over here.. each resort on these has its own small wooden jetty and boats to transport their guests to them... and from the size of the speed boat and jetty, i think more or less we know how 'good' the resort is... kekeke (thinking only lah!).. we leave for the island around 8am+ in a small speed boat to arrive at the d'coconut resort... our accommodation for the next 3 days.

day 2

our first dive is after lunch... got some spare time to take some pic with my digi cam of the surrounding... i was kind of excited and kan jiong as my last dive was more then 1/2yr ago.. so i was trying recall all the safety procedures while preparing my underwater camera case... very unfortunate for us that our dive boat could not start when we are ready to move out... in the end we have use a small speed boat to do all of our dive.... pui!... anyway... packed like sardines we went to our first dive site... karang nibong (i think...) visibility was so so... around 10m... i think... rested for around 1hr... we did our 2nd dive at batu kucip... vis was also around 10m... and i bought my camera this time... i was like never take a picture before.. start to anyhow shoot although there's nothing much to capture.. keke... excited mah.. anyway... underwater photography was really quite difficult... you have to control your breathing and stabilize yourself to the subject... else your shot will be blur and unfocus... its really quite different from photography on land.... eg light's colors diffused under the water... everything is so blue... object appear nearer then you thought... dun have the luxury of time and air... really pei fu those acclaimed underwater photographer.. both their dive and photography skill must be darn good... (and using darn expensive photography hardware.. keke)... saw a big turtle.. but too bad can't catch-up with it and let it slip away...

day 3

food at d'coconut was so so only... nothing fancy... every meal just eat to fill up... our 3rd dive site is tanjong telunjuk... visibility was kns.. around 3-5m... everything was so milky... have to stick close to each other... not a good dive cause no eye feasting rewards... managed to get some sun by the pool before the 4th dive at batu kapal... much better dive then the last one.. vis was not bad... managed to get a clear shoot of a giant moray eel...our last dive was at tanjiong nibong... nothing much... just saw alot of star puffer fishes...

day 4

returning home today... work up early morning...had breakfast... and off we go via speed boat back to merang jetty... quite sian cause to endure the grueling 10hr bus ride to singapore... some more... frankly speaking...the time spend on traveling is rather a put off for people wanting to take a break at p. lang tengah... which i felt...does not provide much at this.... price is also a major factor... but the fact is it is less well know then redang or perhantian... and its isolative nature maybe a pull factor.

addicted to pirates

borrowed a copy of the game "sid meier's pirates"... played and got addicted to it! this popular pc game was first originally release in 1987... and from there it became a classic... its a real-time adventure action game, which put the player in a role of a heroic pirate of the Caribbean who aim to avenge the lost of his family from the evil marquis... this new version was the same pirate games, but with better graphic and better game play... more details from this fan's site

IDA to open tender for Standard ICT Operating Environment (SOE).

for a start... the words "Standard ICT Operating Environment (SOE)" already sounded so confusing.... this $1.5b project announced by IDA comes as a strange surprise... in a whole, SOE means (i think lah...) a standard os, hardware, softwares, for all PC connecting to the gov networks, there common computer platform will be the standard for all gov agencies... but what puzzle me is what is their aim for doing this?? saving?? i mean almost all agencies today are using microsoft windows from microsoft, although different version (98..nt..2000..xp lah..) but all are from microsoft? what are they thinking about??? using open source platform like linux, redhat..??? i mean come on guys!! you have spent so much effort just to teach windows, using open system platform for gov service's users will be a nightmare!! as for software.. come on!! which end user wants to use something that is not graphical.. everyone’s knows simple point and click is the way to go! and in the end... its windows!...tell user to learn commands like in the old MS-DOS days??? i dun think so! well... as for hardware... whats more different will it gets???? its a PC! and it does not makes any different what brand is it...or wat type CPU it uses... at the end of the day it must perform what it is bought for! i really dun know what is this big IDA project its all about... a PC with a standard web browser is already a SOE!... anyway i am not complaining... thank 'god' for injecting more money into the IT sector ...yes we own a bit to them...in some way..somehow.. :P oh yah... its also we tax payer's money right?! >:(
